Getting up and running again after the blog crash last month. I've been unable to import the old blog data, so I'm starting afresh.
First a bit of AG news:
On June 13th, I was featured in IndiePrettyPerfect, a blog about women artists. Helen of pepperinapress.etsy.com sent a list of interview questions that were both inspiring (I wrote a lot) and terrifying (I edited a lot). It was good to sit down and put into words what this whole printmaking process has meant to me and where I want to go with it. I felt like I got a little Pollyanna near the end, but I do feel really good about the path I'm on.
Next one of my ACEO prints was chosen by poppytalk to be the Etsy Pick of the Day on June 18th. I'm honored, thanks!
Finally, what would a blog post be without a picture?
Today was my final monoprint class with Celeste Wyrosdic. I worked for two months next to a wonderful painter-turned-printmaker Ree and today I tried her style of monoprints, combining a background rolled with a brayer onto plexi, stencil cut-out shapes, and additional textures. In this case the red texture is from a block I made from gluing two lace doilies to a piece of cardboard and sealing it with watered down acrylic gel medium.
