Thanks to TeenAngster who emailed me about The Periodic Table Project and did a short article for Etsy's The Storque news pages.

Getting the Lead Out

by Hannah of piebirdpress.etsy.com

Lead (Pb 82) makes 95 prints that I have in hand and 23 left to go. Hannah of piebirdpress did a wonderful job combining letterpress and photopolymer plates to create the image of antique lead type blocks.

I'm taking a couple weeks off from close monitoring of the project but will be back checking in with printers sometime next week. After that I'll dive into the researching of venues for our project.

Moving Forward

So I met with one of the curators at the museum where I work. He gave me a long list (at least 20) of local New England possibilities for gallery/museum/educational showings for our beloved Periodic Table. I'm going to start gathering contact information and figure out which might be the best location, or the most receptive audience then start to send out letters of inquiry.

It'll take time, but this is going to happen. I feel it in my bones. :)

30 Left

Today I received Samarium from Cathy Cullis in Cambridge, England. Sm 62. I think this is a monotype but am waiting for the print info from Cathy.

It is officially the 88th print I have received, so that means there are 30 left out there somewhere. I talked to the manager of the place I get my mail, and she swore they weren't in a pile on her shelves. She thought the postal service may be mangling them and then not delivering the ruined ones. *sigh* So if I haven't received your package yet, and you have sent it, I'm really sorry about all this. I'll let those of you know if I need another copy or version since I know some are not editions.

On other news, I'm going to schedule an appointment with one of the curators where I work to talk about the Periodic Table Project. I briefly described it to him and he seemed quite interested. I'm hoping he'll know of a gallery or institution that would be a really receptive location to show it all. I'll keep you posted with any news on that front.

I really appreciate all the time and effort all the printmakers have put in on the project. I really believe it's going to go places once everything is said and done and inked. :)
