About the Element Rhodium is one of the rarest of precious metals. Silvery white in color, extremely hard, and used in a number of applications such as electrical contact materials, catalysts in industrial applications, and in a most important aspect of the earth's gift to mankind - jewelry. Rhodium comes from the Greek rhodon, meaning 'rose', discovered in 1803 by William Hyde Wollaston. Extraction of the element is complex, as it is often found mixed with other metals such as palladium, platinum, silver and gold. It can also be extracted from used nuclear fuel. A most interesting concept to me!
